More businesses are chasing the trends of advanced industries, and as practice shows, Proptech is no exception. But is it worth following trends?
Young projects that have overtaken their competitors will be able to answer this question. So, let's look at the trends based on the experience of the Northell team and my observation that you should pay attention to in the first place and compare them with the needs of your property product.
3 UX trends: and why should you stick to them?
Simplification
Simplification is the main trend in PropTech. The primary idea is to create super property apps that include thought out to the smallest detail, from color to helpful functionality for the end user.
Simplify and make apps as easy as possible in terms of loading and the presence of well-thought-out and proper functionality inside the app. That is, the functionality of your app should satisfy not only you as a customer but also your users!
For example, our team was working on a feature enhancement for the Tigra project, where a tenant could submit a request to fix a breakdown inside a rental property using the app! It's not just a feature - it's an example of thoughtful, helpful functionality that saves tenant time and allows stress-free problem-solving.
Colors
It's time to forget about the many bright and colorful colors inside one app. Simplifications also apply to the color scheme of the property app. Now, the focus is shifting to choosing a single primary color with a touch of grey. Competently and correctly chosen colors of your app will not overload it and will positively influence user engagement in addition to having helpful functionality.
Functionality
You should start by auditing the current functionality inside the app and assess which functions users used and which ones they didn’t. Leave only those functions that are most often used by users and improve the speed of their loading or automatization.
For example, the landlord uses your app to add information about accommodation that will be rented out. And the approving process is extended into several stages, in which managers approve manually.
And long registration process will cause the loss of potential landlords. Therefore, it is necessary to simplify the registration process by making it automatic without the manual intervention of managers to avoid situations with the loss of customers. As a result, you will get an automated process with well-thought-out confirmation steps and satisfied customers.
If your budget is limited and the app has been around for a long time, it is essential to highlight the main tasks, improve them, and not add a feature to have them.
Your product should benefit not only landlords but also tenants.
Conclusion
Don't try to bypass such giants of the real estate market as booking.com or Airbnb. Make your property app as convenient as possible with a straightforward interface, functional blocks, and fast loading.
We live in a globalization and digitalization era with information-overload markets. Therefore, it is sometimes difficult to identify what is essential and valuable and what to skip, as there is too much unnecessary information.
Make intelligent and balanced decisions, as they are the key to the success of your product and business in general!
Next steps
If you do not have a finished product and only plan to enter the market, then you should start with market research in general and competitors.
If you already have a finished product but understand that some of the functionality needs to be improved or replaced, then, in this case, you need to start with a UX audit. Our team can perform a UX audit of your product with a detailed description of the problematic functionality and recommendations for improvement.
